When we first introduced a 100% Robusta espresso from India in 2006, we didn’t know what kind of reception it would receive. Robusta coffees, which are from a different species than Arabica, were considered inferior in quality. We were making a bold and daring, in-the-face statement to the coffee world, but thanks to the work of the Sethuraman Estate, we were able to easily prove the general consensus wrong. Good Robusta coffee can be achieved, and once again, the Sethuraman Estate has outdone itself. We now have in our hands the best Robusta coffee available par none. This is a special sun-dried Robusta with a production of only 1,500 lbs.
There is no doubt that many Robusta coffees are in fact inferior than Arabica coffees, but what happens when you start treating Robusta with respect and actually give it as much care in growing as you would the best Arabicas? CxR is what happens.
