We are pleased to bring to you the 2014 crop of our incredibly successful S.O. Espresso Brazil Fazenda Rainha!
Last season's crop earned us the #22 spot on Coffee Review's Top 30 Coffees of 2014, also getting acknowledgment for it's incredible value at $12.95/ 12oz, as well as being the only coffee to make the list to be designated for espresso brewing.
Toffee, concord grape, cherry, orange citrus. Slight floral quality, rich and creamy mouthfeel, juicy acidity. Finish consolidates to cedar and bakers chocolate. A fine straight shot.
Opulent, sweet, carnal. Brown sugar, fresh-cut cedar, rich chocolate, apricot, cinnamon, a hint of narcissus-like flowers in aroma and small cup. Full, syrupy mouthfeel. Flowers, chocolate and cinnamon in particular saturate a crisp finish.
At long last we bring you another select single origin Brazil espresso. Our latest crop comes from a small farm in the Mogiana region in the state of Minas Gerais called Fazenda Rainha (pronounced like hyena). Minas Gerais is one of Brazil's most important coffee farming regions, and Paradise's manager had the pleasure of visiting this farm last summer.
This particular region produces some excellent coffee due to its mineral-rich soil and climate. Nestled in the center of a dormant volcano is a small town called Pocos De Caldas. Coffee farms surround the town on the exterior side of the volcanic mountain. Fazenda Rainha is one of these farms.
We particularly enjoy the Yellow Bourbon varietal from this region. Pulped Natural Mogiana is our go-to Brazil for espresso blends. This fully natural yellow bourbon makes a dynamite single origin espresso, full of citrus, fruit, and chocolate tones with a big, juicy mouthfeel.
