Background Info
Not all coffees work well in an espresso blend, and even less work well as a single-origin espresso, but this is not one of those coffees. A single-origin espresso from Costa Rica, this particular lot of coffee is from the 2007 CoE competition where the coffee took 20th place. It is the "El Patio."
El Patio’s twentieth place showing in Costa Rica’s 2007 CoE compeititon is the culmination of Mrs. Camacho and her family’s dedication to revitalizing their farm and improving the quality of their coffee. Instability in the coffee markets had once made the family question whether coffee farming was still worthwhile, but they believed a future remained as long as they cared for their land and produced quality coffee. Mrs. Camacho has instilled this belief throughout her entire family and now enjoys telling people that “the thing I enjoy the most is to watch my grandsons play in the coffee plantations; I like it that they remember their history, and for them to learn to love the land.”

A dynamic, elegant espresso. Bright but not sharp with a delightful nose of rose petals, lime, and cashews. Savory in the cup with a backdrop of dark chocolate and raisin that sparkles with hints of citrus as the cup cools.
