Background Info
Since 2004, Raul Ochoa's farm, La Montana, has been represented in El Salvador's Cup of Excellence, and each year, his coffee has progressively improved. With a Bourbon varietal, La Montana placed 31st in 2004, but the following year, the farm rose into the top five with a Pacamara varietal. Since then, 4th and 3rd place showings have been achieved. This year, however, his Pacamara varietal eclipsed even those impressive showing by winning El Salvador's CoE.

La Montana is the first farm from the Alotepec-Metepan Mountain Range to win El Salvador's CoE. It is also the first to do so with a Pacamara varietal, but this is no accident. Raul takes pride in his farm and his trees, caring for them with an admirable passion. He is a true artisan, and his humbleness is amazing. He explains that, "I just want to keep working as hard as I can and produce the best coffee to create a long-term relationship with a roaster that appreciates my coffee as much as I do."

Wow! Pure power. It isn't often a coffee truly takes your breath away at the first sip but this one does. The brightest coffee we have offered all year bursting with fruit flavors. A syrupy mouthfeel and sweetness continues into the finish where the fruit notes mingle with notes of chocolate and caramel.
