When it was founded in 1623, the San José Ocaña farm initially changed ownership, but ever since Cornelio Lazo Arreaga purchased it in the 19th century, his family, five generations, has produced coffee there.
San José Ocaña was awarded by Illy Café for its focus on quality. Visual controls, as well as humidity, fermentation, and drying process are all part of a daily routine. Coffee is carefully wet-milled and sun-dried.
Roastmaster Comments by R. Miguel Meza:
A beautiful, classic cup. The aroma is ripe and suggestive of lime, guava, blackberry, tamarind, and rose. The cup is complete and balanced. Full rounded body with plenty of supporting acidity in body. If you are a fan of classic Central American coffees, this coffee is perfection.
