Background Info
On a farm in Colombia, amid orange, plantain, and avocado trees, there are rows upon rows of another kind of tree. The oranges, plantains, and avocados will not be harvested. No, they are only grown for the shade that they can provide, protecting the true crop found on the other trees, the coffee trees. Owned by Wilmer Delgado, purchased from his father, and tended to by the rest of the family, the Delgado farm places high importance on quality. Spending the time and money to grow other trees just for their shade is only the beginning of what they do to ensure fantastic coffees are produced year after year.
Wilmer owns 6 hectares of land, growing coffee on 4 hectares, but at the moment, he only approves of the quality on one hectare and thus only harvests coffee from that area. There is hope for more of Wilmer’s coffee to reach us in a year or two as he planted a promising group of trees one year ago, around the time of his son’s birth, and expects those trees to be producing quality coffee shortly.
Until then, we will enjoy the coffee Wilmer has provided us.

A smooth Cauca coffee with subdued but complex flavors. Blood orange, white grape, clove, caramel, and herbal undertones give an overall impression of an East African coffee rather than Colombian coffee.
